Pilgrimage is described as a journey to a sacred place or location. However, the term is comprehensive and used to describe an individual’s journey through a life of personal growth, exploration, spiritual focus or pathway which will lead to an encounter with God.
A Pilgrimage Adventure can be a one-day, short-term trip or longer journey led by a spiritual companion and facilitator who leads and organizes a guided tour/group to a determined sacred location for a transforming experience. The program is structured with daily rhythms of prayer and reflection to help the “pilgrim” identify God’s presence and action along the day-to-day journey.
Through platforms such as Zoom, a group can be assembled from any location to meet online, learn and grow through a series of teaching, prayer and team building exercises. It is imperative that the group form a bond and prepare for the journey. This is not a “vacation“. The Pilgrimage Director works closely with leaders to coordinate logistics, schedule activities, transportation, accommodations, and other logistical arrangements. Depending on the group’s location, some transportation to a rendezvous point may require arrangement by the pilgrim or group leader.
Solid organizational and administrative skills are imperative to ensure that the overall “pilgrimage” experience aligns with the intentions of the group and The Alabaster Jar Ministry. Building a relationship upon trust and clear communication is essential when interacting with groups and vendors to guarantee that the services provided meet the high standards of safety and excellence expected by The Alabaster Jar Ministry.
Scheduling and selection of the Pilgrimage Adventure is tailored to the group dynamic and reflects the focus or theme of the journey.
